Profilo:
The concepts of flexibility, complex-dynamic urban systems and ethero/self-organization of urban context and citizens are the basis for all the researches that I carrying on. In particular, they are included in the Advanced Urban Planning for natural hazards reduction, acting on urban Exposure and resilience with Scenario Planning and Multicriteria evaluation methods. Significant researches are carried on methodological approaches to improve and develop the Rurban context: Rural Architectural Intensification and Rural Architecture Urbanism (strategies and different tools tested in Italy and China contexts).
Other research topics focus on:
– urban approaches to analyze and enhance cultural heritages’ contexts;
– environmental quality in urban project with environmental ecological indicators and the development of Nature-Based Solutions (BAF indexes and new tools on GIS platform);
– University as an opportunity for urban development (Pavia case study and G. De Carlo ideas).

Impact case studies/Key research (in ottica VQR):
At urban scale, the Exposure assessment of the different urban functions becomes essential because of the concentration of people. The Exposure function is defined as f (people, urban function, population age, hours of functions use, functions sq).
To achieve the goal of an integration between territorial governance processes and risk mitigation actions, it is fundamental:
– develop, use and share effective knowledge of risks and its components for the assessment of human exposure;
– integrate territorial current situation and scenarios plan inferable from Territorial Government Plan and risk scenarios from Civil Protection Plan.
To raise awareness and increase scientific dissemination, Provincia di Pavia and Fondazione Eucentre, in collaboration with UPLab, developed a project of itinerant conferences on territory in order to establish a direct dialogue with municipalities: “IO NON RISCHIO, Responsabilità e Piani di Emergenza”.
The first stage took place in December 2019.
